DAY 01: NAIROBI TO SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE Your adventure begins with an early morning flight or drive from Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve, a stunning wildlife haven in northern Kenya. If flying, you'll land at Buffalo Springs Airstrip, where a safari guide will be waiting to transfer you to your booked lodge or tented camp. For those driving, the journey takes approximately 5-6 hours, offering scenic views of Mount Kenya and the rugged terrain of northern Kenya. After checking in and enjoying a refreshing welcome drink, settle into your accommodation and relish a sumptuous lunch with views of the Ewaso Nyiro River, which attracts an abundance of wildlife. In the afternoon, embark on your first game drive, exploring the reserve's semi-arid landscape dotted with acacia trees, riverine forests, and open savannah. Look out for Samburu’s Special Five—the Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, Beisa oryx, and gerenuk, unique species rarely seen in other parts of Kenya. Elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs are also commonly spotted. As the sun begins to set, return to your lodge for Dinner and overnight stay. DAY 02: FULL DAY EXPLORING SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE Start your day with a sunrise game drive, when predators like lions and leopards are most active. The crisp morning air and golden hues create a magical backdrop for photography as you traverse the expansive plains. After a thrilling game drive, return to your lodge for a hearty breakfast and a chance to relax. Later in the morning, An optional visit a Samburu village at an extra fee can be arranged for an insightful cultural experience. Engage with the Samburu people, close relatives of the Maasai, and learn about their nomadic lifestyle, traditional beadwork, and warrior traditions. Witness their colorful dances and even participate in a traditional jumping competition. This visit provides an opportunity to support community-based tourism initiatives and purchase handcrafted souvenirs. After lunch and some relaxation, embark on a late afternoon game drive, exploring new areas of the reserve and tracking elusive wildlife. Keep an eye out for crocodiles basking along the Ewaso Nyiro River and large herds of elephants crossing in search of water. As the sun sets, Return to your booked camp/lodge for dinner and overnight. DAY 03: RETURN TO NAIROBI On your final morning, enjoy a leisurely breakfast with panoramic views, reminiscing about your incredible safari. Check out of your lodge/ camp and embark on a final game drive en route to the airstrip or park exit, maximizing your chances of spotting any wildlife you may have missed. If flying, board your mid-morning flight back to Nairobi, or if driving, enjoy the scenic journey back with a stopover for lunch in Nanyuki. Arrive in Nairobi in the afternoon
