Description

Start your hike near the Kenya Wildlife electric fence, about 400 meters from the Kwa Matu shopping center. Begin your ascent, navigating the steep initial section of the trail. As you climb, take in the stunning moorland views that surround you. Continue your trek, reaching a maximum elevation of around 3,817-3,831 meters. The trail features a mix of steep sections and flatter areas, especially near the summit where the ponds are located. Arrive at the summit, where you’ll find the series of seven small water bodies (tarns) set against a backdrop of breathtaking moorland views. Take a moment to rest and enjoy the scenery before beginning your descent. The hike typically covers 11-14 kilometers, with a total time of 7-10 hours including ascent and descent. Be sure to complete the descent before dusk to avoid encountering wildlife and to hike with a group for safety.
