BEST KILIMANJARO 1-DAY HIKE WITH CAR: SHIRA PLATEAU ITINERARY Your adventure begins with a morning drive from Moshi to the Londorossi Gate, located on the western side of Kilimanjaro. After completing the necessary registration, you’ll continue by car to the Shira Plateau, a stunning high-altitude plain situated at around 3,500 meters. The drive itself offers magnificent views of the surrounding landscape as you ascend through dense forests and alpine terrain. Upon arriving at the Shira Plateau, you’ll begin your day hike across this expansive, otherworldly landscape. The plateau, formed by volcanic activity, is dotted with hardy vegetation and unique rock formations, with the towering summit of Kilimanjaro providing a dramatic backdrop. The trail is relatively gentle, making it suitable for hikers of all levels, and the high elevation offers sweeping views of the distant plains and Mount Meru.
