Description
Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your accommodation in Diani. After a scenic drive along the coast, you’ll arrive at the harbor, where a traditional wooden dhow boat awaits you. Onboard, you’ll be welcomed with tea, coffee, and light snacks as you set sail across the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean. Keep an eye out for dolphins – they often swim alongside the boat and are a true highlight of the journey. After about an hour, you’ll reach the protected Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park, a snorkeling paradise. Dive into the crystal-clear waters and explore vibrant coral reefs teeming with colorful fish, and maybe even spot rays or sea turtles. Next, depending on the tides, you may stop at a stunning sandbank where you can relax, swim, and take in the breathtaking surroundings. The dhow then sails on to Wasini Island, where a freshly prepared Swahili-style lunch awaits you – typically featuring catch-of-the-day seafood, chapati, and flavorful local sides. Vegetarian options are also available. After lunch, take a short guided walk through the peaceful island village. You may visit the ancient coral garden or, depending on the itinerary, the historical slave caves that tell stories of the island’s past. In the afternoon, you’ll board the dhow once more for a relaxing return journey to the mainland, where your driver will be ready to take you back to your hotel in Diani. It’s a full day of nature, culture, and coastal beauty – a truly unforgettable Kenyan experience.Includes
