Description
This half-day trip is your chance to explore the Nairobi National Park. Your professional and experienced guide will pick you up from your hotel early in the morning and give you a summary brief of your trip. The drive from your hotel to the park will be in an open-roofed van, so you will enjoy spectacular views of the city skyline and the roadside wilderness on the way there. In the park, your game drive will be in the same open-roofed van which will give your a comfortable view of the wildlife and scenery. Since the inner parts of the park have a much tougher terrain, you may consider upgrading to a land-cruiser if you wish to go deeper. While the van won't take further into the park, it will still be good enough for your game drive. The game drive will take 4-5 hours. Look out for lions, leopards, buffaloes, rhinos, giraffes, and many other animals all in their natural habitat. There are also flocks of bird species in this expansive park. You may also visit the historic ivory burning site inside the park, the spot where in 1989, the then president of Kenya Daniel Arap Moi, in a powerful gesture against elephant poaching, burnt 12 tonnes of ivory. Another president, Uhuru Kenyatta, also burnt 100 tonnes of ivory at the same site in 2016. This is your chance o learn about and appreciates the country's conservation efforts.
