Description

Begin your adventure with a convenient pickup from your hotel or accommodation. Head to Mombasa town and receive a brief history of the garden and the Tusks. Proceed to the Second World War cemetery and to Mama Ngina Drive, where you will be shown one of the oldest Baobab Trees and learn why the Baobabs were planted there. Continue to Likoni Channel, which separates Mombasa Island and the Mainland South. Walk towards Fort Jesus, built by the Portuguese, and learn about its significance in the Indian Ocean trade routes. Pass by the Mombasa Club, built in 1897, and discover its history. Visit the first Government square, the first British Governor's house, Old Post Office, Old Prison, and the Portuguese Cemetery. The walk will take you to the Portuguese Chapel, built by the Portuguese. After the Chapel, see the oldest mosque in Mombasa and meander through the narrow streets of the Old Town. Get a detailed history of the Swahili people and learn about their culture and food. Proceed to the Eleven Steps, where the first Christian Missionary Dr. Ludwig Kraph lived, and later it was a Germany Consulate. See the old or first American, Austrian, and Italian Consulates in the Old Town. Visit the Mackinnon Market, where they sell fruits, vegetables, spices, and meat. Finish the tour by visiting the Slave Market and the Free Town Bell of Freedom. After the tour, get transferred back to your hotel.
