Description

Day 1: Nairobi to Samburu National Reserve Begin your adventure with a pickup from your Nairobi hotel or the airport. Drive north through the lush central highlands, passing tea, coffee, and pineapple plantations. Stop at the Equator crossing in Nanyuki for photos before continuing with views of Mount Kenya in the distance. Arrive at Samburu National Reserve around midday, check into your lodge or camp, and enjoy a delicious lunch overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River. In the afternoon, set out on your first game drive, searching for the unique “Samburu Special Five”—Grevy’s zebra, Beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk—along with elephants, lions, and leopards. Return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Day 2: Samburu National Reserve Start with an early morning game drive at sunrise when predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs are most active. Return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast, then spend the late morning relaxing by the pool, birdwatching, or simply soaking in the serene wilderness. After lunch, choose to visit a Samburu village to learn about the community’s culture, traditions, and dances, before heading out again on an afternoon game drive along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephants often gather and crocodiles bask in the sun. As the sun sets, head back to camp for dinner, and enjoy the evening around the fire or under the stars before resting for the night. Day 3: Samburu to Nairobi Have one final early morning game drive for a last opportunity to spot rare wildlife before returning to the lodge for breakfast. After checking out, begin the drive back to Nairobi, stopping along the way for lunch and optional souvenir shopping in Nanyuki. Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your Samburu adventure.
