Description

Nairobi National Park is a rare gem. A fully-fledged wildlife reserve located just 15 minutes from Kenya’s capital. Spanning 117 square kilometers, the park offers an authentic African safari experience with a unique twist: a view of the city skyline in the background. Despite its proximity to urban life, the park is home to over 100 mammal species, including endangered black rhinos, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and leopards, as well as more than 400 species of birds. This half-day safari, conducted in a custom 4x4 Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof, offers an immersive game-viewing experience led by a professional guide. Guests may choose between a morning or afternoon session, depending on their schedule and preferences. Both options are ideal for those seeking a memorable wildlife encounter within a limited time. Morning Safari Itinerary The morning safari begins with a hotel pick-up at approximately 6.30 AM in a 4x4 Land Cruiser, custom-built for safari game viewing. Upon arrival at the park by 7:00 AM, guests begin their drive through the reserve during the most active wildlife hours. The cool morning offers excellent chances to spot lions, rhinos, buffalo, giraffes, and other wildlife in motion. Guests are encouraged to bring their own light snacks and water, as food is not provided unless arranged in advance. A short stop may be made at a designated rest area or scenic viewpoint, depending on time and interest. The drive continues through various habitats, including open plains and wooded riverbanks, before exiting the park around 12:00 PM. Guests are then dropped back at their hotel or preferred location by midday. Afternoon Safari Itinerary The afternoon safari begins with a pick-up at approximately 1:30 PM. After a short drive, guests enter the park by 2:00 PM and begin a guided game drive across the varied terrain. While the midday hours are quieter, animals become more active again in the late afternoon, making it an ideal time for photography in golden light. Key wildlife sightings may include rhinos, ostriches, antelope species, and big cats. A stop at the Ivory Burning Site provides historical context on Kenya’s conservation journey. The safari concludes around 6:00 PM, with drop-off by 6:30 PM. Whether you choose the cool calm of early morning or the golden tones of the late afternoon, a Nairobi National Park safari offers a unique blend of wilderness and convenience — an unforgettable experience in the heart of the city.
