Description

There are 5 stops on our journey... 1: Moses's House - I'll start by inviting you into my house, to tell you my story, from growing up in Kibera through starting my own tour company with a mission. From there we’ll walk the railroad tracks of Kibera, meeting the people. 2:WALKING AROUND TO SEE THE DIFFERENT villages/districts of kibera;as well as some of the accomplished local projects such as:A few Community water tanks and sanitation facilities set up from the proceeds(30%)gotten from the walking trips,as well as from well wishers and philanthropists .We’ll also walk a long the Kenya - Uganda train track road/railway(established in between 1901 and 1902),to meet the people as a local would ,and see the aerial view of kibera. 3: Power Women’s Craft Center - We’ll meet Rosemary who set up a workshop for women living with HIV. Collectively they remove the stigma of HIV by employing women with HIV to create crafts.Disadvantaged girls/women from the community,who can no longer pursue their education further due to lack of school fees,school drop out,early childhood pregnancy etc,are also given tailoring skills to sustain themselves. 4: VISITING WASTE HUB CENTRE/ ENVIRONMENTALISTS:We’ll see a corporate group based in kibera slums with mission to end poverty through waste by creating handmade African crafts.They use dead padlocks,timber/wood,brass and animal bones. They source out bones from slaughter houses to convert them into finished products like bottle openers,lockers etc. The ash from the bone,they can use that to make organic fertilizers to sell to the farmers outside kibera.The ash from the bones is also a chicken feed for locals who keep them.They create employment oppprtunities to the locals,men and women,as well as doing micro loaning(credit)facilities to the locals. 5:Master's Touch Bakery - At the finale of our tour, we’ll meet Nancy for coffee & fresh baked goods. Nancy will relate her story of starting a business as a single mother and the adversities women face starting a business in Kenya. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: wear comfortable shoes. Carry 1 L water as hydration is essential. On the tour, please ask for permission first before taking photos. Come with an open mind set. Carry some cash to purchase local made products (promoting local entrepreneurs). You can bring some candies for children,rice ,sugar,flour,sanitary pads,soap,to share with disadvantaged families. N/B: 30% of the Revenue from the tour goes back to support our local initiatives (thus construction of washrooms(toilets),and installation of water Tanks ,near residential homes.This makes a community more desirable and increase its appeal to prospective residents(Desirable Living ) MEETING LOCATION: —-PRESTIGE PLAZA SHOPPING MALL,ngong road,at the GIANT COKE BOTTLE,situated outside car parking lot of prestige plaza shopping mall.

Transportation Bus Once we are done with the experience,i`ll provide a bus(Matatu cultural adventure)ride from Kibera,to the starting point on public transport commonly used in Nairobi.
