Description

Our driver/guide picks you up at your hotel at 5:00 am to begin our eventful day. On the way to Ol Pejeta, we’ll point out traditional Kenya coffee and tea plantations. Weather permitting, you’ll also enjoy views of Mt. Kenya and its snow-capped summit. The drive is takes roughly 3 hours. It’s the closest place to Nairobi where you can possibly view all of Africa’s Big Five. However the highlight here is opportunity to spot many typical East Africa wildlife like the Northern or reticulated giraffe, visit the Chimpanzee Sanctuary and if you wish we can pre-book an appointment in advance to visit the only 2 remaining Northern white rhinos in the world. This is the only place in Kenya where you’ll be able to enjoy these loving and intelligent creatures. Here at the sanctuary, orphaned and abandoned chimps are rescued and nursed back to health. When they’ve been rehabilitated, the chimps are introduced to large natural enclosures where they can live and play freely. Adding to the diversity of this special sanctuary you may also find some little-seen, unique wildlife such as the tree hyrax, white-tailed mongoose, black-fronted duiker, mole rat, bushbuck, waterbuck and eland. You may carry picnic lunch or enjoy a hot delicious meal at the Sweetwaters Serena Camp as you watch gazelles or rhinos at the drinking waterhole. After lunch you will have a relatively short enroute game drive as you begin your journey back to Nairobi arriving at or around 6.30.pm
