Description

Begin your experience with a convenient pickup from your hotel in Nairobi. Head to the Museum of Illusions, where you’ll find over 60 interactive exhibits designed to challenge your perceptions and entertain visitors of all ages. Start with the Vortex Tunnel, a short, straight walkway with rotating spiral patterns on the walls and floor. As you step inside, your brain gets conflicting signals: your eyes see the tunnel spinning wildly, but your inner ear (balance system) feels you walking straight. Most people feel a strong dizziness or a 'falling forward' sensation. Holding the handrail is recommended. Kids often giggle and wobble through, while adults pause in surprise. Next, visit the Ames Room, a seemingly normal square room where two people standing in opposite corners appear to be different sizes. The room is actually a clever trapezoid shape, and the floor and ceiling are slanted. Your brain assumes a normal rectangular room, so it misjudges distances. Take hilarious photos where you 'hold' a friend in your palm. Continue to the Tilted Room, where the entire room is slanted at a 15–20° angle, but the furniture (chairs, table, a pool table) is aligned with the actual horizon. When you walk in, gravity pulls you sideways, but your eyes insist the room is level. Try standing upright or rolling a ball across the pool table—it moves 'uphill' by your eyes but downhill by gravity. Then, step into the Infinity Room, a dark, mirrored chamber with thousands of small LED lights. The mirrors create an endless tunnel of lights in all directions—floor, ceiling, walls—with no visible boundaries. This room is perfect for slow-motion videos and contemplative moments. Some visitors describe it as 'calming' after the dizzying vortex tunnel. Finally, explore classic illusions like the Head on a Platter, where two concave masks look like convex faces that seem to turn and follow you as you walk past. See hologram projections, static images that appear to move or float in 3D, and visit the Smart Playroom, where you'll find hands-on puzzles: building blocks that look identical but have different weights, spinning color wheels that create white light, and magnetic mazes.
