Early Morning: Departure from Eldoret Depart from Eldoret early in the morning and head towards Mount Elgon National Park via Kitale, entering through the Chorlim Gate. The scenic drive takes you through lush farmland and charming rural landscapes. Mid-Morning: Caves and Waterfalls Exploration Begin your exploration on the lower forest circuit with key highlights: • Makingeny Caves Marvel at the geological wonder of these bat-inhabited caves set within thick forest cover — a perfect spot for curious explorers and nature photography. • Chesurur Waterfalls Enjoy the peaceful ambience of this hidden gem tucked in the forested slopes. The cascading waters and serene surroundings offer an ideal moment for relaxation and short walks. • Kitum Cave Visit the park’s most famous cave, known for its salt-rich walls that attract elephants and other wildlife. With luck, you might spot signs of recent animal visits or even encounter wildlife nearby. Midday: Picnic Lunch and Bluff Viewpoint Enjoy a packed picnic lunch in a designated forest clearing, surrounded by the fresh, crisp air of the highlands. After lunch, take a short guided hike to Endebess Bluff.
