Description
Your Giraffe Centre and Kazuri Beads Tour begins with a pickup from your hotel in Nairobi. You'll be driven to the Giraffe Centre, which is located in the Karen suburb of Nairobi. Upon arrival at the Giraffe Centre, you'll be given a brief introduction to the Rothschild's giraffe, an endangered species that is native to Kenya. You'll then have the opportunity to get up close and personal with the giraffes by feeding them pellets from a raised platform. After feeding the giraffes, you'll have some time to explore the Giraffe Centre on your own. You can visit the education Centre to learn more about giraffe conservation, or you can simply enjoy watching the giraffes graze in the enclosure. After your visit to the Giraffe Centre, you'll be driven to the Kazuri Beads factory. Kazuri Beads is a women's cooperative that produces beautiful and unique handmade beads and jewelry. When you arrive at the Kazuri Beads factory, you'll be given a tour of the facility. You'll see how the beads are made by hand, from the initial mixing of the clay to the final firing of the beads. You'll also learn about the history of Kazuri Beads and its mission to empower women. After the tour, you'll have some time to shop for Kazuri beads and jewelry. There is a wide variety of items to choose from, including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and home décor.
